グアテマラのホームステイ Our Host family in San Pedoro

1/22から1/23にかけてのバスでの移動。もう少しで目的のサンペドロへと到着！アンティグアからはミニバスで約３時間いくつもの山をくねくねと越えてやってきました！高いところから見下ろす　湖の町々。素敵ーーーー！！！We haven't finished our long bus trip yet. We took a minibus from Antigua and finally we are arriving in San Pedoro!! The road zig-zags up and down!!
サンペドロでの一番の目的はクロービスの両親のファームで一緒に住んでいたシアシャとグアテマラ人のパートナーディエゴに会うこと！二人には４月赤ちゃんが生まれる予定！シアシャは素敵なグアテマラの伝統的な服を身にまとってお出迎えしてくれました！The main thing we came to San Pedro for was to visit Siasha, who used to live with Clovis's family and her Guatemalan Partner Diego! They are having baby in April! We are very excited! She was waring traditional Guatemalan cloths and they welcomed us!

せっかく二人がこの町にいるので、１週間私たちもスペイン語学校に通いながらこの町で過ごします。滞在先は学校が紹介してくれたホストファミリーのお家。手続きもあったので今日はとりあえず学校とホストファミリーのお家へとトゥクトゥクに乗って向かった。We had to go to the school we booked, so we said good bye for today and took Tuck Tuck to the school.いよいよファミリーとご対面！ホストブラザーのホアンが学校に迎えに来てくれて、歩いて３０秒の彼らのお家へ連れて行ってくれた。人見知りをするフィンだったのに、すぐにみんなと打ち解けてはしゃぎまくるフィン。どうしちゃったのーーーーーー？？？！！！Joan who is our host brother came to the school and took us to his house which is only a 30 second walk! Finn is usually very shy to stranger but look! He is very different in Guatemala!!



グアテマラのお家は、一つの土地に家族、親戚が隣同士、または同じ建物に住んでいることが多いようで、ホストファミリーは３人の子供がいたけど、お隣のいとこたちを合わせると６人、７人と、子供たちがいつも周りにいた。従兄達の中で、４人がホアンという名前でびっくり！Guatemalan families are usually big! Grandparents and relatives live near each other. Our host family has 3 children but we had 6-7 kids around us! They are the cousins! And there are four Joans in this family!!

興奮はまだまだおさまらず。Everyone was so excited including Finn.
キッチンにはガスコンロもあるお家もあるけど、このように薪で火をおこして料理する方がまだ一般的みたい。このお家にはガスコンロも電子レンジもあったのでかなりモダンな家のようだ。おうちもとっても広いしさらに増築している様子。でもさすがにトルティーヤはこの薪ストーブで焼くみたいだけどね！夕食は、トマトソーススパゲティー（麺がたっぷり）にトルティーヤにパン。グアテマラの人ってほんと炭水化物いっぱいとるのねーーーー。ちょっとびっくり。Some families have a gas stove in their kitchen but most family cooks with a wood stove. Especially tortillas! Our host family have a gas stove and even a microwave too. The dinner was spaghetti with tomato sauce, tortillas and bread!!! Wow they eat a lot of carbohydrates!!
夕食の後も子供たちが遊びに来てにぎわいました！サンペドロの町は１週間いられるからこれからじっくり見て回ろう！うわーーーさすがに疲れてぐっすり。明日からはスペイン語のレッスンも始まりまーーーす！ホストファミリーもいい人たちで、何しろ子供達が一緒でフィンも楽しそうだからよかったーーーー！！！After dinner, the cousins came over again and played until late! Well we better get some sleep for tomorrow. We will start our Spanish class tomorrow!!!! Nice host family! We are very excited for our stay with them!!
