Guadalahara

We took a 4 hour bus ride to our final destination Guadalahara. We found this nice hotel that has a courtyard that boys enjoyed playing in.

We booked Tequila train tour but I got sick,,,. I stayed in a hotel room and Clovis took boys to the plaza. Boys were playing with their trains around the fountain, when other boys joined them with their own trains too!

One boy traded a big steam engine for Kii's little Thomas. Kii was pretty happy about it but Finn was so jealous!!!

The street boys!

Last day of our trip in Mexico, I felt bit better so we went for brunch. It was a hit!

Here Kii Open your mouth!

Again, boys were playing with their trains at a fountain and kids came to join them. It seems like this always happens!

Doubledecker! Well It was pretty hot day without roof but we took a ride

with this cool looking one dollar folding hat!

Oh it's perfect! Fresh fruit punch!

There were many Mexican tourists in this City. it's the least "Americanized" of all the Large Mexican cities and that's it's charm!

We took a taxi to the airport 4 O'clock in the morning and came back to Chicago then 5 hours driving home. It was absolutely fabulous trip. We really loved it! It was very different trip from 10 years ago when we met each other in Mexico but we loved both!!
3/15-17

Old mine town Valencia And Hot spring

We took some days trip from Guanajuato. We didn't have much information about this area, so we decided to explore! This is an old mine town Valencia. It's only 10min by Taxi.

Local school group came to say hello to us! It's always nice to meet people!
We found the only open mine tour on accident! Are you ready Kii?!
Wow it's awesome! Boys loved the models of the mines.
わぁ~ The tour guide took us down into the mine. He said this is the only mine we can go in now. Wow we are quite lucky to find this place! They used to take donkey with them. Wow it's so dark and narrow. of course the mine has a pretty horrible history with slavery, as it was established in 1550s and was the richest mine in Mexico for over 300 years.

And following day we took a big day trip to the local HOT SPRINGS! The bus goes on the rolling hills and the view was so beautiful! But since we took many long distance buses Kii was over them,,,, He cried and cried and cried almost all the way to the next stop which was about 3 hours,,,,,

We changed the bus another 20min bus ride then finally we made it!!! By then both of us were exhausted but here is the hot springs!!!  Even Kii was smiling! We were all happy!
Now we are in a cave,,, are you guys ready?!

Here is the cave trip!

Kids don't need special toys. They played with pet bottles for a loooong time! they were watering the rocks!

On the way back, we stopped at San Mighel which is another old spanish town.

It's a beautiful town though I prefer Guanajuato. Many rich people live here, lots of expats too. Everything is bit more expensive too. Even street food is like restaurant's price. it said in the guide book that apartments down town are more expensive the San Francisco, but that is really hard to imagine.

Oh more people came to us! They said they are studying English.

Home!!! We took a local bus from big bus station. It arrived in the tunnel!!! Boys were supper happy! Next, we are going to the final destination Guadalahara!
3/13-14

Guanajuato

We took night bus from Mazatlan to Guanajuato via Guadalahara. It was bit cold in the bus but Finn and Kii slept pretty well though Finn was almost fell off when we were almost arriving in Guadalahara the road got really curvy. We arrived in Guadalahara around 6AM and changed the bus and another 4 hour driving. Finally We arrived in Guanajuato!! It's beautiful Old Spanish City. There are car tunnels under the City so that they can keep the old narrow town in tact.

We took a taxi to the center of the town and Clovis found a nice Hotel! This hotel had an amazing view from the balcony!

Look! It's a bed!

We were so hungry. There is a gourmet burger shop next to the hotel.

Finn slept whole time when we were eating lunch so he is eating cereal at the hotel.

でもお味はとってもおいしかった~~~!!!We missed Clovis' birthday cake but we found nice cake shops here. Look at boys! They were so excited! This town is very different. We felt like we were in somewhere in Europe! Fancy cakes, bakery, cafe and many tourist (Mainly Mexicans)

The Plaza had nice trees that make nice shady area. Many people were having relax time with some music. Oh it's so nice!!!

Boys love Tunnels. Every time we saw one they go "Tunnel Tunnel Tunnel!!!!!~~~~~' Now Let's go to the top of the hill

Enjoy the view from the cable car!

We walked down to the center.

Market is always fun!

Two stories building with full of shops.

Looks like it's a popular place to eat!

Roasted pork?! It was delicious!

Mexicans love this sauce! When we went to Mexican festival around here, they told us about this sauce. It's a really good one!

What's this?! It's cactus for eating! It's actually pretty good. Next will be day trips from Guanajuato!
3/12 -13

Beach town Mazatolan

Back to Mexico trip little bit here.
We are going to the beach town Mazatolan! We took a long distance bus.

M$390/pp. This bus system is so nice! It's like on the airplane. They gave us some drink, snack and sandwiches. It's very comfortable bus! We left around 10:15 and we were stack for 30 min on the road I guess there was a road work. Then we arrived in Mazatolan around 4:30! Wow it was loooooong trip!

Go Go Go~~~~~~~~ Finally we were on the beach!!!!! Our hotel is in the old town area with ocean view! (La Siesta M$780/night)

We had dinner at the hotel. Since we are by the ocean, we had fish tacos and fish soup!

And of course Margarita!!! It was our first margarita in this trip! Mazatolan is 3rd biggest vacation town for Mexican. It was on the weekend so many people were cruising around with maximum volume of music on! Clovis got a huge cup of Margarita for us. After kids went to bed, we had nice Margarita time! This is the way for traveling with kids!

Next day, of course we went to the beach!

Oh we waited this so loooooong!

The old town has so many beautiful buildings.

Oh I love these tiles!

We love plazas!

Street performers are so great!
So nice to see people are dancing!

I love visit markets wherever I go.

This is the one we ate in the soup last night.

Wow it looks like almost like beef! Well it tasted like corn-beef  I thought. May be depends on how they cook.

Traditional Mexican sweets.

Let's eat!!

It had raw fish and vegetables marinated with vinegar. It was very good!

Fried fish on the tacos with lots of salad eat with consomme soup. Of course with Rice and beans ! Oh I love these food from Market. Always fresher and tastier and cheaper!

Then we went to the condominium area. It was like Gold coast in Australia! But we liked old town better.

3/12 it's Clovis' birthday! We couldn't do any special thing for him since we were traveling but he says this trip is special! Well .... IT IS! We had another beach time and hiking on the hill to see the view and relax time at hotel until we leave for our night bus!

Oh we loved the town!

We went to the bus station by this cool looking taxi! Our trip will be 8 hours to Guadalahara then change the bus and another 4 hours to Guanajuato!
