おばあちゃんが用意してくれたサンドウィッチや手作りクッキー、その他のスナックをたっくさんもっていざアムトラックへ。そういえばウィスコンシンを出発した時はｸﾛｰﾋﾞｽのお母さんが手作りクッキーを持たせてくれた。これってファミリートラディションなんかな？？？！！！Grandma gave us tons of sandwiches, her homemade cookies and other snacks. I remember his mom also gave us her homemade cookies when we left Wisconsin. It must be the family tradition!
デンバーを出るとそこはもうごつごつした山々が。今日は更に雪がたくさん降っているので迫力を増す。いくつものトンネルを抜けながらこんなごっつい山々を通り抜けるのはかなりの見ごたえ！これから北米の屋根ロッキー山脈を越えてゆく。
Not too long time after we left Denver, it became snowy Rocky mountain! Lots of tunnel to go through the mountains it's defiantly worth to see!!
アメリカの幹線鉄道の曲線企画でも最も急である角度が１０度ほどのΩ状カーブを描くので車両の先頭が見える時のシャッターチャンスを皆が構える。We went through the hair pin curb that are 10 degree Ω shape!
なんだかオーストラリアの赤土の岩岩を見ているような景色になってきた。この辺は雪降らなかったんだ～。列車は川沿いに岩山に囲まれながらどんどん進む。It looks like red rocks in Australia! It didn't have snow around here. It's so nice to have river along the track!
デンバーから温泉駅までは見どころなのでオブザベーションカー（景観車両）はかなりたくさんの人たちでにぎわう。Between Denver and Glen springs station is the high light. Many people came up to the observation car!
あ、対岸には道路が。ここも３日前ドライブしたな～。今日は反対にアムトラックから車を見ている。Oh it's the road that we drove 3 days ago on the way back from Hawkins and Chrissy's house!
そして昨日はいったグレン温泉駅へ到着。３日前までは雪なかったのに！駅から温泉までは歩いてすぐ。なので時間のある人はこのホテルに１泊して是非この温泉を経験してみるといいでしょう！水着が必要です！入浴代＄１３～タオル有料。Our train stopped at Glen Springs that we took the hot spring pool 3 days ago. It has a hotel. You can stay over night and take Amtrak next day and continue your trip!!
この辺りからはもう雪とはお別れです。面白い形の岩があちらこちらに見られます。Lots of funny looking rocks around here. Yes Colorado is the Rocky mountain country!!
そんなかんなで景色は更にだだっ広い盆地へ。盆地といっても日本のようにすぐそこは山に囲まれということはなく、遠くかなたに山が見えます。大平原ですね。この辺はユタ州。コロラ ドとは全く変わった景色にびっくり！この先ユタ州、ネバダ州のほとんどは暗い時間に走るので景色は見えませんが当分このだだっ広い景色、砂漠の風景が広 がっているはず。Now we are in Uta. It is so different from Colorado. It's just flat!!! The train goes through most of Uta and Nevada at night.
朝起きるとネバダ州をまだ走っていた。We were still in Nevada next morning. It looks dry!
朝もやがとっても神秘的！It looks like a magical world!!
そしてこの後同じ車両にいた同じく旅人達にトランプに誘われ、あっという間にお友達が住む目的地コルファクス駅へと到着。今回は終点のエメリービルより少し手前で降りた。アムトラックが到着して降りてみるとそこは道路のど真ん中。え？？駅ちゃんとあるのに、、、、。どうやら線路の踏切内にいるみたい。車掌さんがアムトラックが出発したら急いで踏切を渡ってねと行った。初めは意味がわからなかったけど、、、、。踏切を越えた所には車が何台かいたのでここは早くよけなければ！！！と急いで駅のホームへと向かった。？？？ほんとちょっと理解しにくいこのシステム、、、。毎回こうなのかな、、、、。We played cards with other travelers and soon arrived at Colfax where our friend lives. When we got off the train, we were between the railroad crossing!!! The conductor said we need to walk toward the plat form!!!!???? I didn't get it for a second. But as soon as we got off, I saw a couple of cars waiting right next to us. Oh I got it. we didn't arrive on the plat form!!! ??? That is what the conductor said to us. But is this normal???!!!!
何はともあれ無事に１日半のアムトラックの旅を満喫しました！ここはもうカリフォルニア。列車を降りた瞬間もう寒さはなく、なんだかウィスコンシンの夏みたいに暖かい！これからカリフォルニアをしばらく旅します！Anyway, we had a great trip again by Amtrak! It is not cold any more it's like our (Wisconsin) summer!! It's California!!!10/29~10/30
