ラハイナルアウ Lahaina Lu'au

ウィスコンシンからはるばるママジェーンがやって来た！厳しい寒さのウィスコンシンから解放され早速マンションに付属のプールでウォーミングアップ！
Mama Jane safely landed on Maui on Feb 28th. It's good to escape from the cold Wisconsin weather for a while!! Let's go for swimming and get warmed up!
マウイの天気は本当に予想がつかない。天気が良くなりますように～と願いながらこの日はマウイの西側のドライブと私たちもまだ見ていなかったコロラドのおばあちゃんお勧めのハワイアンルアウを計画。The weather on Maui is always a mystery. We hoped for the best and decided to go for a drive around the west side of Maui and then watch the Old Lahaina Luau that Grandma Lilian suggested.
森林浴に青い海と空。心配した天気も問題なし！We got great weather! It's a beautiful scenic drive! clovis' family loves scenic drives!
ラハイナに到着。ラハイナルアウのお出迎えはトロピカルドリンクとレイ！本当のレイをかけてもらったのってもしかして初めてかも！！We arrived in Lahaina. They welcomed us with tropical drinks and leis! I think this is the first time that I got a real lei!! Feels like Hawa~ii~!!
夕暮れの海辺。とっても絵になる！Beautiful sun set!

何を掘ってるの？What are they digging for?!


じゃ～ん。土の中でベイクされた豚まる一匹！お料理に出されます！They baked a whole pig underground. It's going to be our dinner! Wow!!!!
お料理はビュッフェ形式になっていて、品数豊富。さっきの豚肉を初め、牛ステーキ、グァバでマリネしたチキン、ハワイアン名物のタロイモで作るポイ、タロイモの葉っぱでポークを巻いたもの、タロイモの葉っぱを焚いたホウレンソウによく似た味のお野菜料理、アヒというお魚のポキ（アヒの生をゴマ油やその他ソースと混ぜたもの）アヒはアジに似ている。ロミロミサーモン、カニのアイランドサラダ、タコサラダ、スイートポテトのココナッツミルクソースその他本当にたくさんの種類があっていつの間にかお皿はいっぱい。It's buffet style! There were so many kind of dishes. Many Hawaiian dishes such as The BBQ Poke, beef stake, Guava Glazed chicken, Poi, grilled pork wrapped with Taro leaves, simmered Taro leaves that had a similar taste to spinach, Ahi Poke LomiLomi Salmon etc. → http://www.oldlahainaluau.com/flash.html
フラダンスを見ながら、カクテルとともにディナーを堪能。（アルコールやソフトドリンクも好きなだけ飲む事ができる）While we were having dinner, we also enjoy the hula dancers.
デザートは４種類。4 kinds of deserts!!
メンイのパフォーマンスが繰り広げられる。フラダンスはかつて神とのコミュニケーションの役割を果たしたそうです。また、文字がなかったハワイアンはこの踊りで伝統を受け継いで行きました。キリ スト教が入ってきたことでカルチャーも変わり、モダンなハワイアン文化が誕生します。こんなストーリーをフラダンスで語ります。The last performance is the main one. Hula as it was meant to be performed with love and reverence. The ancient hula was a way of communicating with the Gods. It is accompanied by chanting. The performance shows you about the history of Hawaii. The missionaries brought many changes.
