マウイ島 ハレアカラのクレーター（お鉢） Haleakala Crater

今日もいいお天気だったので世界最大の休火山といわれる’ハレアカラ’のてっぺんまでドライブに行ってみました！マウイに来たら必見！カレアカラはハワイ語で’太陽の家’という意味を持つそうだ。マウイ島の名前の由来の半神半人のマウイが1日を長くするため、太陽をここに閉じ込めたというお話がある。この山,何と３０５５ｍもあり、頂上まで車で行く事ができるんです！いくつかの牧場や馬のラウンチがあってほのぼのした私たちのすきそ～～～な自然たっぷりのドライビング。だんだん雲が近くなってきた！It's nice weather everyday! We decided to drive up to Haleakala Crater!　You should check this place out if you come to Maui! The name Haleakalā is Hawaiian for "house of the sun." According to a local legend, the demigod Maui imprisoned the sun here in order to lengthen the day. The top of Haleakala is 10,023ft and we can get there by driving!! On the way to the top, there are many ranches and cow pastures!! It is beautiful! The clouds are getting closer !
標高２３００ｍほどの所ではすでに雲は私たちの下に！It's about 7000ft high. We are already above the cloud!
カフルイから約１時間ほど。ナショナルパーク入場料＄１０（３日間有効）を払って駐車場へ。じゃ～ん！標高３０５５ｍ到着。島にはバイクツアーがあって、一気にここから自転車で道路を下っていくという体験もできる！気持ちよさそ～～～！It's about 1 hour driving from Kahului where the main air port is. $10 for national park fee, then up we go to the parking lot! Wii~~~~~~~10,023feet!!
空気が薄いから休み休みね！！先月のコロラドで４０００ｍ位の所で張り切ってスキップしたら、は～は～ぜ～ぜ～で大変だったもんね、、、、。Oh, we got to remember to walk slowly!! We are at very high elevation!!! We learned from our Colorado trip last month to move slow at high elevation. ひ～私たち天空にいる？！Oh we are in the sky!!??
ハレアカラのお鉢！富士山は登山しないと見れないけど一気にきちゃったよ～～！ここにはハイキング、トレッキングコースがあり、長コースでは、海側に２～３日かけて降りていけるコースもある。他には日の出を見るツアーや夜の星観測ツアーなども催行しているツアー会社がある。なるほど～太陽の家だ！
この休火山が最後に噴火したのは１７９０年だそうだ。Here is the Crater!! Mt. Fuji has a beautiful Crater too but we have to climb it on foot! I've done it twice and it was also nice. But it's supper easy to get here!! Many people come here for watching sun rise and sun set and astronomical observation at night. There are some backpacking trails and one of them goes all the way down to the coast!
! Also some companies offer bike tour. They bring people and their bicycles to the top and let them ride down to the bottom! How nice!!
