津波警告 on Maui Tsunami warning on Maui

2月２７日、夜中に元住んでいた人から連絡が来た。
津波の警報が出されるかもしれないので、６時位にもしかしたら
非難警告が出されるかもしれないとのこと。
前住んでいたお家はオーシャンフロントだったので津波が来たら大変！
今回引越したお家は、マンションの６階。海、山を眺められるビューはお気に入り。
朝になり、朝ご飯をいつものようにベランダで食べた。いつもに増してよい天気！
ハイキングでも行きたいな～ってぐらい。海もすごく穏やかで青い空が広がる。
すると町じゅうにサイレンが鳴り響いた。３０分おきに何時間も。
本当に来るのかな～結局前の家の人たちは朝６時にヘリコプターが飛んできて避難命令が出たようで
非難したらしい。
Feb 27th in the middle of the night our phone rang. It was from Paul who is a caretaker at our previous house on the Ocean, he forgot that we moved out. (We moved a couple of weeks ago)
He said that they might have to evacuate in the early morning. The place where we live now is on the 6th floor about one mile from the ocean. In the morning we had breakfast on the balcony like we always do with the view of the mountains and the ocean. It was absolutely gorgeous weather. We even thought about going for a hike. even though it was a nice blue sky and the ocean was so calm. A helicopter came to the ocean houses that we used to live at and woke all of our old roommates up around 6 AM telling them they had to evacuate to higher ground. A Tsunami might be coming!


結局この日はこのまま穏やかなお天気が続いて終わりました。
日本から、アメリカ本土からと色々な人がニュースを聞いて
心配してメールや電話をしてくれたみなさん、ありがとう！無事です！
But it was just beautiful weather all day on Maui and the Tsunami never came. We are totally safe!! Thank for your calls and E-mails everyone!!
