2011年バレンタインデーValentine day in 2011

さてバレンタインデー当日となりました！今年はフィンもいるので、家でできるアクティビティーをリストアップしました！まずは朝食ママジェーンが焼いてくれたピカーンたっぷりのスウィーツロール！Valentine's day! Now we have Finn so we decided to stay at home. We made a list of activities that we love to do together and spent our day checking them off! We had a lovely heart shaped sweet roll that Mama Jane baked for us. Clovis eat most of that stick of butter in the photo with his.
ヨガをする時間を割く事を最近してなかったな～。フィンもいるからヨガ教室に行くのはなかなか難しいから、お家でやろう！時間を割くかいあり。これを機に毎日続けようかね～。さ、お決まりの音楽をかけて息を吸って～はいて～ We haven't done Yoga for a long time. Going to Yoga Class is a bit hard with Finn, So we took time for Yoga at home. It feels great!
外はこ～んなにいいお天気に！フィンがお昼寝に入ったのでお次のアクティビティーリストクロスカントリーをやろう! Wow it was like spring! We enjoyed cross country skiing while Finn was taking his morning nap.

お！フィンが起きて来た。-２０度位の日々から一気に春のようになった今日。と言っても３度前後なんだけど。私たちにとってはとっても暖かい！！外の新鮮な空気をたっぷり浴びてね！Mr. Finn was so happy after napping, he came out and enjoying the view and sun. It was nice and warm outside like spring!

お次はまえまえから作りたかったかまくら作り！フィンも不思議そうにあたりを見回す。I wanted to make a snow fort so bad. so I put it on our Valentine's day list!

かまくらから滑り台！こんな感じです。We connected my sledding trail to the compost to the front of the snow fort! watch me take a run in the video!

フィン、雪おいしい？冷たいでしょ～？！Finn tried to eat some snow! Does it taste good?! It's cold isn't it?!

まだまだ続きます。こんなに暖かくなったので、ちょっと早いけど、春に向けて種を植えよう！Since it's suddenly got so warm we were feeling like planting some seeds. It will be easy to remember when we planted them!

毎年ちょっと種まきが遅れちゃうトマト。今年は準備バッチリ！バレンタインデーに植えたのでいつ植えたかも忘れないしね～。今年からは大きなガーデンスペースで栽培できるので楽しみ～～～！！We are always late for planting something since the last couple of years we were away from Wisconsin for the winter. With our new home we have big space for gardening. We are so excited for spring and gardening!!
さて、いっぱい遊んだので今度は昨日のうちに焼いておいたチョコレートチーズケーキ。ご近所さんが蜂蜜から作ったワインと一緒に頂きました！私たちの７回目のバレンタインデーにカンパーイ！ Then we had Chocolate cheese cake that I baked yesterday. We had our neighbor Greg and Anna's Honey meed. It's like champagne. We loved it thanks guys!! Canpa~~iiiii for our 7th Valentine's day and 7th Anniversary together!! ディナーは、ステーキをＢＢＱ。フィンが寝た後はバレンタインデーの締めくくりのサウナ。大好きなボーイズ達と楽しいバレンタインデーを過ごせて幸せでした！
On Valentine's day, we always have a BBQ. It's our favorite meal! After Finn went to bed, we took a sauna. We did so many fun things. I am so happy spending Valentine's day with my favorite boys!!

バレンタインデーディナー Valentine's Dinner @YIHS

バレンタインデー。今年もやってきました！毎年ユースイニシティブハイスクールでは、素敵なバレンタインディナーで町の人々をおもてなし。みなさんからのドネーションがスクール費用にあてられます。今年はバレンタインデーが月曜日なので、２日前の土曜日２月１２日に行われました。Valentine's Dinner at YIHS is one of my favorite annual events! They provide a very fancy high quality dinner. This is one of the School's fund-rising events.
今年も１００枚のチケットが売り切れ。たくさんの町の人々達がウキウキしながら集まってきました！生徒さんや町の人がウェイターウェイトレス。ワインを頂きながらみんなとおしゃべりを楽しみます。雪が大量に降ってなかなか町に出てこられなかった人達もこのスペシャルイベントで久し振りに皆とあえて嬉しそう！They sold all the tickets out (100)! We had tons of snow this year so people who live in countryside don't get to town so often, so at events like this they enjoy seeing other people and chatting over the dinner!
さて、まずは前菜にチキンレバー、白いんげんのパテ、そして燻製マスのサラダ。Smoked Trout Salad on beauty heart radish, Chicken liver and white beans pate on crostini.

Winter spinach and roasted beets salad with an orange champagne sauce.
スモークパプリカとローズマリーのスウィートポテトスープ。フィンもこのスープ美味しく頂きました！ Smoked paprika and rosemary Sweet potato soup. Finn also enjoyed this soup!
お食事の間は生徒さん達の素敵なパフォーマンスで盛り上げてくれます。Students entertained us during the dinner!
メインはオーガニックビーフトップサーロインステーキブルーチーズバター添え。つけ合わせはローズマリーマッシュポテトにウィンターグリーンの白ワインソース。ベジタリアンメニューはお野菜と椎茸とポレンタのオーブン焼き。食材の提供はオーガニックバレーやキカプーコーヒー、地元のオーガニックファーマーや地元の人々からのドネーション。こんなに素敵なディナーを提供してくれたＹＩＨＳと、手伝ってくれたみなさんに感謝感謝！The Top Sirloin Beef stake with blue cheese butter, mushed celeriac & potato and winter greens. Vegetable and Shiitake with Polenta as a vegetarian meal option. These beautiful ingredients are mainly all donated by Organic Valley, Kickapoo Coffee, Local Organic Farmers and individual people.
そしてデザートは粉なしチョコレートケーキサワーチェリーソース添え！チョコレートがとっても濃厚でしっとりしてチェリーの酸味が何とも言えないコンビネーション！キカプーコーヒーのおいしいコーヒーと共に頂きました！Flour-less Chocolate cake with sour cherry sauce. We had it with some very testy locally roasted Kickapoo Coffee! We enjoyed our evening a lot!

ウィスコンシン流冬のエクササイズ backyard snow adventure

冬はお家の中でぽかぽかもいいけど、たっくさん積もった雪に埋もれるのもなかなかいい！スノボはさすがに雪が深すぎた、、、 Staying at home in a nice and warm room is great in Wintertime but playing in the snow is not too bad either.
食材の使わなかった部分や食べ残し等をためて、土と混ぜて肥料にする’コンポースト’をためている所までソリすべりで！今日は更に道を強化した。I take a sledding hill to our compost pile sometimes.


今度はフィンも一緒に！結構スピード出るんだよねこれが。We made the trail nice and smooth! Finn, it's O.K. I am holding you!
ついでにクロスカントリースキーのトレイルを作ろうっと！お庭の端から、ジグザグと道を作ってみた。Then we decided to make a cross country ski trail too! We made a zigzag from one edge of our yard to the other. it ended up quite long trail!
うわ～こんなに寒いのに汗だく。ウィスコンシン流冬のエクササイズでした！みなさんお風邪にお気をつけて素敵な冬を過ごして下さいね～！After we took a couple of runs we were so hot! It feels so good. It's Wisconsin the way to exercise!

パッカーズ勝利！ Congratulations Packers!

アメリカフットボールＮＦＬスーパーボールは一大イベント。チャンピオンを決まる最終戦！お友達の家に集まって皆で応援！The Wisconsin football team (the packers)is playing in the Super Bowl ! This is very special for Wisconsin people!
パッカーズの洋服に身をまとってベイビーから大人まで気合入ってます！Go pack Go!!
試合が始まる前からみんなそわそわ。Calm down everyone, they will be fine!
ついに！ウィスコンシン　グリーンベイパッカーズ優勝！おめでと～～～～～！！！！これから数週間はウィスコンシン、盛り上がってた～いへん！Yes!!! We won!!! We still can't believe they did it!! Congratulations!!!

ハーブの達人！ Herbalist Robin

ビロクアの町には色々な達人がいる。ロビンさんもその一人。ハーブの達人。彼女の作るティンクチャーやソープ、クリーム、リップはすべてオーガニック素材で、殆どローカルなものを使用。プロポリスも地元のビーキーパーさんからのもの。こうして材料がどこから手に入ったのか知る事でも安心して買えるのがうれしい！We have many people who have such wonderful skills and knowledge in this area. Robin makes such great stuff. She is a great herbalist. She has been making products for 20 years! She uses local herbs and bee's wax etc. She can talk about herb all day long!
最近は風邪が流行ってますね。日本は更にすごそう。風邪をひき始めたかな？と思ったらエルダベリーティンクチャー！その他、赤ちゃんのおむつかぶれ、湿疹かぶれにはカランドローと葛の根っこを使ったパウダー、歯ぐきの腫れや痛みにはプロポリスティンクチャー、おなじみリップももちろん全てオーガニック素材！最近親知らずを抜き、虫歯とともにやられていた歯ぐきに歯医者さんに抗生物質を出してもらったけど、あまり抗生物質を飲みたくない私はさっそくプロポリスティンクチャーを試してます！お医者さんに行くと何かと抗生物質っていう世界だもんね、、、。自然の力を借りて治すぞ～～～！！さて、２０１１年も５月中旬～９月末まで、ザリトルカントリースクールはたくさんの楽しいアクティビティーをご用意して皆様をお待ちしております！ロビンさんのハーブ講座、待ち遠しいな～！

If you are getting cold, take the Elderberry(Local) or Propolis(from Local Bees) tincture she makes. Arrow root and Calendula powder for Baby's diaper rush or other rushes. Of course lip balm is popular. They are all organic, natural ingredient. We are so lucky to have those! Recently I got my wisdom tooth removed and my gum is swollen. My dentist gave me antibiotics but I was bit hesitated to use them. Now I use Robin's Propolis tincture instead!

クレープの中にコイン？！Crepe with Coin?!

うわ～おいしそうなデザートがいっぱ～い！Wow beautiful deserts !
今日はかつてシカゴでフレンチレストランを営んでいたシェフモニークがフランスの伝統的なお祝いパーティーに招いてくれました。Candlemasといわ れ、キリストが生まれてから４０日目のお祝い。また、この日は秋分の日と春分の日の調度真ん中の日で、昼と夜の長さが一緒になるのでこの先どんどん日中時 間が長くなるという事を祝う。

Our friend Monique who used to run her own restaurant in Chicago invited our community people for her party .The Christian significance of 2nd of February is that this date is forty days after Christ's birth at Christmas. Moreover, under Jewish Mosaic law the ceremony of purification takes place 7 + 33 days = 40 days after a child's birth. February 2 is also significant because it falls nearly midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

お料理は地元でとらえたシカ肉のシチューに、ホウレンソウとチーズのクレープ！The Dinner was also delicious! Venison stew, crepes with spinach and cheese, salad and nice bread!

フランスではCandlemasの日にはクレープがディナーで用意されるのが伝統だそうで、料理人が片手にコインを持ちながらクレープを作る事ができたら家族に幸運が訪れるという。
In France, Candlemas is known as La Chandeleur. Crêpes are served with the evening meal. One superstition is that if the cook can flip the crêpe while holding a coin in the other hand, the household is assured of prosperity in the coming year.
モニークはフランス出身で、今夜は彼女の地域で行われるやり方でみんな挑戦！温めたフライパンにクレープの生地を流し込み、その真ん中にコインを入れる。これがライト（日の明かり）と見たてられる。We did crepe making by her area tradition, Put the coin on the crepe and flip it over. If the coin fall into the pan it means you get good luck!
えい！っとフライパンを降ってクレープをひっくり返したときに、コインも封じ込められたら幸運をつかんだという事！やった～～～我が家にも幸せ、バッチリつかみました！

フランボワーズのソースでおいしく頂きました！And we ate it with raspberry sauce which was great!

寒い日にはベーキング！Baking time for the cold night!

今日は更に雪が降り続いた。こんな寒い日にはオーブンでベーキング気分！今日はピッツァ。We are getting so much snow! I feel like baking in this weather! Let's make pizza!!

まま～ぼくも食べた～い！！う～、、、まだちょっと早いな、、、。I want to eat too mommy~~~~ well,,,,pizza,,, not yet,,,.
翌朝。そうだ、パンはどうやろ。ピッツァ焼くついでに焼いたパンを少しスライスしてあげてみた。Oh I baked bread too. May be he can eat it!
うわ～。食べた！問題なし！フィンはパン好きみたい！No problem! It was his first bread! Good job Finn!!!
さ、今日は晴れた良い天気になったからご近所さんの所へフィンをソリに乗せて行くか！It's a beautiful day! Let's go outside!
お家の前はふわふわの雪！We have tons of fluffy snow around the house !!!

ママのリトルモンスター Mommy's Little Monster

私のリトルモンスターです！６カ月～１２か月の男の子のベビー服にはモンスターやダイナソウの絵がやたらと多いな～と思っていたら、６カ月を過ぎ、まさに実感。’うが～～～う～～～～’とお家にはなんだか小さなモンスターがいるようです。それに歯が生えかけでまさにこのよだれかけのようになっていくフィン。This is my little monster! We have noticed that many of 6-12month outfits have monster or dinosaur print on them. Now we know why. We have a little monster at home!! And Finn is getting a tooth. Eventually he will be like this bib!
お尻はこんな感じです！ひいおじいちゃんおばあちゃんが送ってきてくれました！It's a gift from Great Grandma and Grandpa! We love it! Thank you very much!
