トルティーヤ作りレッスン！Making Tortillas with Guatemalan Mom Anna!

1/27 朝食　パンケーキ　ランチ　キャベツとチキンの和え物、ベジタブルマヨネーズあえ　ディナーインスタントヌードル
どこの国へ行ってもとっても興味深いのはその国の家庭料理。今回はディエゴのお母さんアナがグアテマラの女性が毎日作るトルティーヤ作りのレッスンをしてくれました！いつものように午前は学校、お昼を食べてからシアシャ達のお家へまたまたやってきた。グアテマラにはスウィートコーンはない。なのでトルティーヤの原料のコーンもフィールドコーン。通常はコーンを数時間柔らかくなるまで焚いてそれを町にあるグラインダーに持って行って生地が出来上がる。時間がない時はコーンミールを使って水で溶いてちょうどいい硬さにするだけで生地ができる！これならお家でもすぐ出来そう！Where ever I travel, one of the most interest things to me is knowing their home cooking. Today Diego's mom Anna is going to teach us how to make Guatemalan tortillas!! There is no sweet corn here in Guatemalan. Their corn is only field corn. To make tortillas dough, they cook with water for several hours and bring it into a place where they share a machine to grained. But when they don't have time, they use corn meal. Put some water until it becomes right constancy. Wow it sounds like something I can do at home easily!
さ、今度は形作り！、、、、。すごい難しい、、、、。グアテマラではあらゆるところで女性が手のひらで生地をのばしながらちょちょいと形を作って焼いている姿を見かけるけど、こんなに難しいの？？！！！手にくっついたりせっかく出来上がり寸前のものが破れてしまったり、、、。コツを教わりながらも苦戦。後は練習しかない！Let's make the shape! ,,,,,,,????? is it so difficult??!! Yes it is very difficult. I have seen Guatemalan women making tortillas on the street and it looks so easy. It is so sticky and break so easily. Anna told us some points but now only I can do is practice!
ストーブの上でトルティーヤを焼きます。これならうちの薪ストーブでも出来そう！トルティーヤがくっつかないように白い粉（天然のミネラルでセメントの原料にもなるものを使っていた）を水で溶いたものを塗る。トルティーヤがプクーっと膨れたら反対側を少し焼いて出来上がり。Put the tortillas on the wood stove. Put some minerals, which is used for cement but natural, so that tortillas doesn't stick on the stove. When tortillas puffed flip over and bake for a second then it's done!!

さ、私たちがトルティーヤレッスンを受けている間はお隣でクロービスはベビーシッター。フィンがこんなにお友達とはしゃいでいる姿はとっても珍しい！いつもは隅の方に隠れてるのにーーーー！！While we were making tortillas, Clovis was babysitting. Finn had such a great time with them and we were so amazed as usually Finn is so shy with other kids.
ママの様子を心配して見にきました。ママ頑張ってるよーーいつかお家で作ってあげるからねーー。Hey mom how are you doing??!! Well Mom is trying heard and one day I will make these at home buddy!!
そしてそのあとは台所のすぐ隣にいるチキンの様子を見に行く。これもフィンのお気に入り。コケコッコーと言いながらずっと見てるフィン。このお家はフィンにとってパラダイスです。They have little chickens by the kitchen. Finn loves them. 'Kokkekokko----'
じゃーーーん！！数十枚練習したかいあって、最後にはアナもこれはよくできたわと言ってくれたトルティーヤの出来上がり！さっそく食べてみよーーー！うわーーー最高！特に特訓の後はね！Here is my tortillas!! Finally I was able to make some nice one but not many. Let's taste!! Wow it is so nice especially after lots of practice!
アナはスペシャルスープを用意してくれていました。グアテマラのお料理でカルド　デ　マリスコと言います。海の幸とお野菜の鍋ってとこかなー。これにはビーフも入っていて、カニとビーフの出汁がほんとよく出ていておいしーーーー！今までのグアテマラ料理で一番おいしかった！グアテマラ料理って出汁をとってシンプルな味を味わうところは日本の料理にそっくり！Anna cooked some Cardo de Marisco (Seafood and vegetable soup) It is typical Guatemalan meal. Cardo is a soup but with chunk of meats. It is so delicious. It's my favorite Guatemalan food!! Beef and crab made such a nice broth and lots of vegetable. I really think Guatemalan cooking is similar to Japanese especially they make such a great broth. The big difference is they squeeze fresh tomato in meals.
ライスと共にいただきます。グアテマラの人たちが食べるライスはほんと私たちお気に入り。お塩味とお野菜が少し入ったピラフのよう。アナの旦那さんは漁師さんなのでこの湖でとれる魚介を食べることが他の家庭よりも比較的多いとか。町のマーケットにアナが売りに行きます。ディエゴのお姉さんは毎日８キロもの手作りトルティーヤを売っているんだって。そんな家族に伝授してもらったトルティーヤ。貴重な体験だったなーーー。アナ、そしてこのレッスンをセッティングしてくれたシアシャ、本当にありがとう！ザリトルカントリースクール　グアテマラ支店　オープン！なんてできたらいいなーーー絶対面白い企画ができるぞーーー！！！需要があれば真剣に考えるかーーーー！！！We love their rice that is little bit of salt and vegetable cooked together. Anna's husband is a fisherman and Anna goes to the Market in San Pedoro to sell. Their daughter (Diego's sister) sells 17lb of homemade tortillas everyday!! Wow I was so lucky to learn from this family tradition!! Thank you so much Anna and Siasha who set up this class for me!! The Little Country School should have Guatemala brunch!!

パナハッチェルの町を訪れる Panajachel in Guatemala

1/26 朝食　ジャム＆トースト　昼食　グリルビーフ、トマトソース、ライス、トルティーヤ
学校を終え、ランチを家族と食べる。お父さんも昼間はたいてい帰ってくるので、夜のうちに作っておいたランチを温めて盛ってくれるのはお父さん。午後はパナハッチェルというボートで２５分ぐらいの湖の対岸の町へ。人口はサンペドロの２倍ぐらいの約２万人。ボート片道Q25（約$３）1/26After school, we had lunch with the family. The father also comes home for lunch. It is so nice to have meal with them. Then we went to Panajachel by boat with Siasha and Diego!


さ、いよいよボートに乗って！フィンはボートを見るごとにボートボートと興奮する! Whenever Finn sees a boat he is excited and says Boat Boat!!!!
パナハッチェルの町のストリートには毎日こうして路上マーケット出てにぎわう。Panajachel has shops along the road everyday like this.
山々が奥にそびえる町。High mountains are behind the town. It is beautiful!
一番奥にはマーケットがありお野菜やお肉などがたっくさん！フィンもわーーーぉーーーーーっとまたまた興奮！大きな町ではスーパーもあるけど、お肉、お野菜類はあまり置いていない。スーパーに置いてあるのは輸入物が多かった。こうしてマーケットで出ている方が新鮮だし、安いし、きっと需要があまりないのね。Wow--------------- the end of the road there is a Market! There are super markets in a big city in Guatemala but there is not so many vegetables and meats. The vegetable at a super market were mainly imported stuff. I guess people buy vegetables and meats from a market in their town not super market. It is nice!
いろんなスパイス。マーケットを見るとその国の台所がのぞけるようでとっても楽しい！I love to see Markets so that I can imagine their kitchen!!
お肉は新鮮なので冷蔵庫には入らずこうして釣らされて量り売りされている。Meat is fresh so they just hung like this and sell by weight!
マーケット楽しかったねーーー！Wii--------------- it's fun!!
通りがかりのレストラン表の屋根は木でできていた！うわーーーかわいーーーー！The tree roof is neat!
帰りのボートまで湖を見ながらおしゃべり中。ボートでサンペドロへ戻り、町のレストランで夕食。アジア、グアテマラのミックスされた料理のお店で、てんぷら、チベットカレー、パッタイ、パイナップルステーキなどなどオーダーしました。久しぶりにグアテマラ以外のお料理を食べた！そして、クロービスの昔からのお友達でグアテマラへ導いてくれたザックファミリーとようやく落ち合うことができた！We were chatting in front of the lake for a while then went back to San Pedoro and had Dinner together. We tried a restaurant that has Asian and Guatemalan mixed meal. We had Tempra, Tibet curry, Thai noodle and grilled Pineapple! Finally we were able to see Zac who encourage us to come to Guatemala and his family the night!

大好き！サンペドロコーヒー Coffee in San Pedoro

さ、今日も午前中はスペイン語のレッスンです！学校のお隣。なんやろ？？！！これはコーヒー豆を乾かしているんですねーーー！ここサンペドロは良質のコーヒーでも有名。1/25 2nd day of our Spanish class! What's this?! It's coffee beans. laid out to dry under the Sun. The coffee from San Perodo is very famous.

学校の午後のアクティビティーではコーヒーのお話でした。スペイン語だからなーんとなくわかったような。Afternoon activity was a lecture about the importance of coffee for the local people. Well I guess I understood about 40% of it,,,.
学校の敷地内にはコーヒーの木もあります。There are coffee bushes in the school!
コーヒーに木や実を見る機会ってほんと少ないけど、かわいらしいほんのり甘い実。ビターな味のコーヒーからはあまり想像がつきませんねー。そして、この種がコーヒーの豆なのです。The coffee fruits are cute and sweet! It is the opposite from my image of coffee, bitter, brown etc.
サンペドロの町の中でも一押しのコーヒーはカフェLas Cristalinas 。私はカフェアメリカーノQ12(アメリカーノといっても薄くはない。むしろ濃い）、クロービスはカプチーノ@15。特にこのカプチーノは行けてた。カフェによるとミルクの味が強すぎるところがあるけど、しっかりコーヒーの味が！パナハッチェル行きのボート乗り場から急な坂を上る途中左手にあります。フィンはカフェから車が通るのが見えてご機嫌。グアテマラでは５カ月ぐらいの赤ちゃんからコーヒーを与えるという。妊婦さんでも子供でも、赤ちゃんでもコーヒーはよいと考えられているところがびっくり！ということで、フィンもお初のコーヒー！We heard about this cafe called "Cafe Cristalinas" from Japanese couple who have been in San Pedoro for 4 years. Let's try it! I had cafe Americano Q12 and Clovis had Cappuccino Q15. Especially this Cappuccino was amazing! From Pana dock, you just go up the steep slop! Finn was happy as he could see cars from his seat. Also He tried his first coffee! The Guatemalan give coffee to their babies from 5 months on! They think Coffee gives us good energy so they say pregnant women have no problems drinking coffee!
お店のうらには大きなコーヒーロースターがあった。独自で豆を炒っています。コーヒーはローストの仕方でも随分と味が変わりますねー。あまりローストしすぎると風味が失われてせっかくの独特の味が消えてしまう可能性もあるし、逆に豆の質があまり良くないなら深入りローストすればごまかしがきくって事もありますねー。私は酸味のない苦みのでもしっかり風味のあるコーヒーが好き。妊娠中だからコーヒーをあまり飲まなかったけど、おいしいコーヒーがあるところでは飲んでおかねば！They have a huge roaster. They roast coffee beans by themselves and of course their coffee is from here in San Pedoro! It is nice and fresh! I love coffee that doesn't have acidic taste. Sometimes too much roasting destroys the distinct taste. which is probably why all the chain coffee (starbucks) is so darkly roasted, so you can't taste the bad quality coffee beans.

グアテマラでスペイン語クラス Spenish lesson in San Pedoro

1/24今日からスペイン語のレッスンが始ります！Maya de Colazon http://www.corazonmaya.com/という学校でサンペドロの町の端にある小さな学校。授業は可愛い建物のなかで個人レッスンです！メキシコでスペイン語学校に行った時はグループだったけど、断然個人レッスンの方が自分のペースでできるし内容も濃い！私たちのザリトルカントリースクールも小グループとウェブサイトでは載せているものの、いつも個人レッスンを提供しているので、これは是非”個人レッスン”に絞って行きたいところだなーと改めて感じました。
ファミリーは仕事、学校に行ってしまうので朝ご飯は休暇で戻ってきている息子さんがパンケーキを用意してくれました。1/24 We are starting our Spanish class today! The school is Corazon Maya http://www.corazonmaya.com/ . San Pedoro is a great place to learn Spanish. The town itself is very safe and we can walk everywhere or of course you could take a Tuck Tuck anywhere too. I had a Spanish class in Mexico before and it was a group lesson but this time it's one on one! It is so much better this way! Then I was thinking about "The Little Country School's" English class which we offer, it's one on one and people love it!!
フィンもお勉強？！８時から１０時まではクロービスが、１０時からコーヒータイム。１０時２０分から１２時までは私がレッスンを受けることでフィンはその間どちらかと遊んでます。サンペドロは小さな町だし、大都市に比べて安全だし、自然もたくさん。湖沿いにあるこの学校もとってもアットホームでいい感じ。参考までに授業料は１週間１日４時間のレッスンで＄７５この一部はグアテマラの子供たちの教育に寄付されるそうです。ホストファミリーは１週間３食付き（日曜日は食事なし）で一人＄６０。フィンは＄２０でした。Finn are you learning Spanish too?! Well Clovis takes the class from 8 to 10 then we have a coffee break then I take the class from 10:20 to noon. Finn was with one of us while the other is in the class so it was perfect for us!
1week 20 hour one on one lesson (4hours per day) $75, Home-stay 3 meals a day except Sunday $60/week/pp baby is $20.

学校までは３０秒。いつもお馬ちゃんが２頭いるので、毎日フィンは馬を見るのを楽しみにしていました。
Finn loves horses!! Just out side of the host family's house, there are 2 horses and Finn enjoyed every single day seeing them on the way to the school which is only a 30 second walk!
ランチはお家に戻って家族と食べます。今日は鶏肉のトマトソース。ライスともちろんトルティーヤと。午後は改めてシアシャ達に会いに行きました。途中洗濯屋さんによるQ80。＄１０とは結構な出費。でも約８キロぐらいあったから仕方ないか、、、。坂がたくさんあるサンペドロの町を散歩しながらシアシャ達のお家へ向かいます。石の道はベビーカーにはちょっときついかなーーー。グアテマラにはこういう石のがたがた道が結構ある。でも全体的にベビーカーはほんとお役立ちでした！We had lunch with the family everyday at 1PM. Today's lunch was chicken with tomato sauce and of course with a large side of tortillas! Then we walked to Sirsha's house! The roads are cobble stone some times, which is a little hard on our baby stroller but we made it!
フレッシュフルーツを使ったスムージーはQ５．好きなフルーツをミックスしてくれます。しぼりたてオレンジジュースもめっちゃお勧め！ Fresh fruit Smoothies looked good! Q5 We had a mango and blackberry smoothie with milk! And the fresh squeezed Orange juice is really good too!! Q5
女性はほとんど伝統的な服を着ています。いいかんじーーーーー！！Guatemalan traditional cloths are so beautiful and most women still ware them everyday!

さ、シアシャ達のお家へ到着。ビデオはシアシャとディエゴのキッチンで撮影。お母さんと甥っ子、ディエゴのお姉さんにも会うことができました。みんなとってもウェルカムしてくれました！We are in Sirsha and Diego's kitchen meeting with Diego's family! His mom, sister and nephews! They welcomed us with their smiles!
シアシャのお父さんや、ママジェーンその他、ギフトをお届け！グアテマラの郵便事情は悪く、贈り物が届かないのは普通とか。Finally we brought the gifts to them from her dad, mama Jane and us. Guatemalan shipping situation is not good at all so this is the only way that they can get something for sure,,,,.

キッチンからの眺めはこんな感じです！うわーーーーいいねーーーー周りは火山と、１３ｋｍｘ８kｍのアティラン湖。この湖で洗濯したりもします。ディエゴの家族は本当にみんなやさしそうで、心温かい雰囲気が漂いまくり。こりゃシアシャ、幸せだね！安心しました！学校の復習を少しして、夜ごはん。グアテマラではお昼がメインなので夜は朝ごはんのようなものを食べるのが普通みたい。フリフォーレス（豆の焚いたもの）、スクランブルエッグ、そしてトルティーヤでした。そろそろお野菜が食べたいな、、、。This is the view from their kitchen! Lake Atitlan and volcanoes! She looks so happy and her partner Diego and his family are so nice. We are so happy to meet them! At night we study Spanish little bit then have dinner. Lunch is the biggest meal and they eat light meal in the morning and night. we had beans and scramble egg with tortillas.

グアテマラのホームステイ Our Host family in San Pedoro

1/22から1/23にかけてのバスでの移動。もう少しで目的のサンペドロへと到着！アンティグアからはミニバスで約３時間いくつもの山をくねくねと越えてやってきました！高いところから見下ろす　湖の町々。素敵ーーーー！！！We haven't finished our long bus trip yet. We took a minibus from Antigua and finally we are arriving in San Pedoro!! The road zig-zags up and down!!
サンペドロでの一番の目的はクロービスの両親のファームで一緒に住んでいたシアシャとグアテマラ人のパートナーディエゴに会うこと！二人には４月赤ちゃんが生まれる予定！シアシャは素敵なグアテマラの伝統的な服を身にまとってお出迎えしてくれました！The main thing we came to San Pedro for was to visit Siasha, who used to live with Clovis's family and her Guatemalan Partner Diego! They are having baby in April! We are very excited! She was waring traditional Guatemalan cloths and they welcomed us!

せっかく二人がこの町にいるので、１週間私たちもスペイン語学校に通いながらこの町で過ごします。滞在先は学校が紹介してくれたホストファミリーのお家。手続きもあったので今日はとりあえず学校とホストファミリーのお家へとトゥクトゥクに乗って向かった。We had to go to the school we booked, so we said good bye for today and took Tuck Tuck to the school.いよいよファミリーとご対面！ホストブラザーのホアンが学校に迎えに来てくれて、歩いて３０秒の彼らのお家へ連れて行ってくれた。人見知りをするフィンだったのに、すぐにみんなと打ち解けてはしゃぎまくるフィン。どうしちゃったのーーーーーー？？？！！！Joan who is our host brother came to the school and took us to his house which is only a 30 second walk! Finn is usually very shy to stranger but look! He is very different in Guatemala!!



グアテマラのお家は、一つの土地に家族、親戚が隣同士、または同じ建物に住んでいることが多いようで、ホストファミリーは３人の子供がいたけど、お隣のいとこたちを合わせると６人、７人と、子供たちがいつも周りにいた。従兄達の中で、４人がホアンという名前でびっくり！Guatemalan families are usually big! Grandparents and relatives live near each other. Our host family has 3 children but we had 6-7 kids around us! They are the cousins! And there are four Joans in this family!!

興奮はまだまだおさまらず。Everyone was so excited including Finn.
キッチンにはガスコンロもあるお家もあるけど、このように薪で火をおこして料理する方がまだ一般的みたい。このお家にはガスコンロも電子レンジもあったのでかなりモダンな家のようだ。おうちもとっても広いしさらに増築している様子。でもさすがにトルティーヤはこの薪ストーブで焼くみたいだけどね！夕食は、トマトソーススパゲティー（麺がたっぷり）にトルティーヤにパン。グアテマラの人ってほんと炭水化物いっぱいとるのねーーーー。ちょっとびっくり。Some families have a gas stove in their kitchen but most family cooks with a wood stove. Especially tortillas! Our host family have a gas stove and even a microwave too. The dinner was spaghetti with tomato sauce, tortillas and bread!!! Wow they eat a lot of carbohydrates!!
夕食の後も子供たちが遊びに来てにぎわいました！サンペドロの町は１週間いられるからこれからじっくり見て回ろう！うわーーーさすがに疲れてぐっすり。明日からはスペイン語のレッスンも始まりまーーーす！ホストファミリーもいい人たちで、何しろ子供達が一緒でフィンも楽しそうだからよかったーーーー！！！After dinner, the cousins came over again and played until late! Well we better get some sleep for tomorrow. We will start our Spanish class tomorrow!!!! Nice host family! We are very excited for our stay with them!!

夜行バスに挑戦！take a Night bus with Finn

1/22さ、今日はいよいよフローレスから夜行バスでアンティグアへ！フィンお初の夜行バスに備えて日中はリラックスタイムを取ろう！トラック、トラクターのおもちゃさえあればレストランで数十分このようにおとなしーく遊んでいてくれるフィン。1/22 We are taking a night bus tonight to San Pedoro via Antigua! We tried to relax as much as possible especially for Finn!! Most of the time he is happy as long as he has a toy truck or bottle of milk. Every time we go to a restaurant, he plays alone like this for a while!


今日は朝からブリートーを注文。ブリートーってアメリカ流のメキシカン料理だと思ってたけど実際存在するのねーー。小麦粉のトルティーヤの中に牛肉、ライス、がソースに絡まって入ってます。トッピングにはクリーム、粉状のチーズ。I had Burritos! I thought it is an American Mexican food but they offer it here in Guatemala too!
グアテマラの人たちはあらゆるところに洗濯ものを干しています。大家族で住んでいることが多いので、毎日洗濯です！Lots of cloths are hanged everywhere everyday in Guatemala! They usually have big families!

湖眺めながらゆらゆら揺れて気持ちがいいねー Wow------ it is so nice!!
クロービスが買ってきたかき氷。何と塩味。お塩、フレッシュレモンにかぼちゃの種の粉がかかってます。お味は、うーーー、珍しい味。でもやっぱり甘いシロップの方がいいかなーーーー宇治金時が食べたくなった！夜８時半に旅行会社の人が迎えに来てバス停まで送ってくれました。バスは９時出発。これからアンティグアへ夜行で移動し、その後サンペドロという町までさらに３時間のミニバス。フィンは意外にも夜中ぐっすり寝てくれました。バスの中は寒かったので私たちの方が寝られなかった、、、。フローレスからアンティグアまでファーストクラス夜行バス＠２６０（約＄３２）約８時間。このバスはかなりモダンできれいだった。Clovis got a ice cone but it was very interesting tasting. It wasn't sweet it was salty!! It had some salt, fresh lemon and powder of squash seed! 8:30 at night the travel agent took us to the bus station. The night bus was about 8 hours. It was a first class bus to Antigua and nice and clean with air conditioning but it was very cold. we didn't expect it to be so extreamly airconditioned so we left our sleeping bags under the bus. we where to cold to sleep but Finn slept all way to Antigua!! Wow he is a master of traveling! Q260 from Flores to Antigua 8hours

グアテマラに来てチーズの国ウィスコンシンからやってきた私たちにとって乳製品があまりゲットできないのがそろそろ限界になってきた。そしてまだおいしいグアテマラコーヒーに出くわしていない。夜行上がりの朝食何としても贅沢したい！ちょうどバスの乗り継ぎで２時間ほどあったので、ベーカリー兼カフェへ。Sabericoというお店www.saberico.com.gt へ。ハーブガーデンがあり、ハーブを使ったベーキング、お料理がメニューに並ぶ！ガーデン内にある好きなテーブルを選べて、緑を見ながらの食事！We arrived Antigua and we had a few hours between the next bus to San Pedoro. We really needed a nice breakfast and we found a perfect cafe called Saberico! They have a nice herb garden and each table has their own space in the garden, so you can pick your favorite site!
たっぷりの手作りパンにモッツァレッラチーズにハーブソーセージ、フルーツサラダ。Q３５（約＄４）I really missed good quality cheese and they had it!! Yummy mozzarella cheese and herb sausage on their home baked bread and fruits salad. Q35(about$4.2)
オーガニックホウレンソウ入りのオムレツ、バナナのソテー、ビーンズとソース、Q４５（約＄５．５）そして手作り雑穀パン。そしてコーヒーQ15（約＄２）も今までの中で一番おいしかった！贅沢な朝食でした！The omelets has some Organic spinach inside. Beans, homemade sauce, banana saute and home baked bread. (Q45) plus they had great coffee with free refills! clovis drank tons, he called his sleep substitute.



次のバスの前にアンティグアのセントラルパークで遊ぶフィン！いい子ちゃんでした！サンペドロではスペイン語学校に１週間通いたかったので、数件学校に連絡し、先生の空き、ホームステイの空きがあったMAYA　DE　CORASONという学校に予約した！今日に今日でアレンジしてくれて助かったーーーさ、サンペドロに着いたらホストファミリーとご対面だーーー！Before we get the next bus Finn enjoyed the central park in Antigua! Of course he didn't want to leave,,,,. Clovis called a couple of Spanish school in San Pedoro. We were bit worried if there is any availability for class and host families. But he found one!! Good job Clovis!! Tonight we will be with the host family!!!

1/21今日は謎のティカール遺跡を訪問。フローレスの街からはミニバスで約１時間２０分。前のトラックは子供たちが後ろに立ち乗りしてるー！グアテマラでは３歳ぐらいの子供をスクーターの後ろに乗せてヘルメットなしでっていう姿は普通。到着手前でガイドと落ち合い、（ガイド付きでないミニバスのみのチケットだったけど、無料で１時間ガイドが付いていた）Q１５０(約＄２０）ティカール遺跡の入場料を渡す。地図はQ10で売りに来る。マヤカレンダーはそういえば今年２０１２年で終わってる。そんな年に訪れるとは、私たち、マヤによばれていたのかしらーーー！ティカールはグアテマラの北部でメキシコやベリーズに近いので、中米を旅している人はメキシコ、ベリーズ、そしてグアテマラのここティカールを訪れ、南のハンドゥーラスに抜けるという旅程を組む人も多いようだ。1/21 Tikal trip! We took minibus to Tikal. It did not includ a tour guide but there is a 1 hour free tour with a guide! It was about 1h20min from Flores up to Tikal. Look! Kids are in the back of the truck. Guatemalans put their little kids on the back of their motorcycles without helmets and in the back of their trucks with no worries! It's very wild sometimes! Tikal entrance fee Q150 about $20.By the way I heard that the Maya calender ends in 2012!
まずは遺跡までのジャングルの散策道。この木はセイバというグアテマラの国の木に指定されている面白い形の木だ。We were walking in the trail in the jungle. This tree is Ceiba that is National tree of Gualemara!
これはシロアリの巣。大事なたんぱく質源といってガイドさんは私たちの目の前で食べて見せた。う、、、ちょっと怖い、、、。シロアリって悪いイメージしかないけど、ジャングルの中でのサバイバルライフには欠かせないのねー。The tour guide ate a Turmite in front of us!!! He said that Turmites are a very good protein sauce for the Maya people in Jungle. They don't pack lunch just grub some tortillas and find something to eat in the jungle! Clovis doesn't believe him, says that just a tour guide myth.

ティカール遺跡はとっても広いので、特に重要な遺跡を１時間でガイドさんが簡単に説明してくれる。フィンはクッキーさえあげればこうしておとなしく座って待っていてくれる。During the tour, as long as Finn had a cookie to hold onto, he was just wondering around or sat down and munched on his cookies.
さ、ダディーについて探検探検！フィンはいつもママがそばにいるかこうして確認しながら歩く。Follow daddy!!! He always check if his mom is near him like this!
うわーーーでかい！以前はこのテンプルにも登れたらしいけど、誰かが落ちてから登るのは禁止になったとか。Someone fell off from the temple, since then we are not arrowed to climb up this temple.


さ、メインのグランドプラザにやってきました！Gland Plaza!
うわぉーーーーティカール遺跡はまだまだ土の中に眠っているのが８０％も。日本がスポンサーして掘り起こすはずだった遺跡で昨年の震災、津波のためキャンセルとなったものもあり。まだまだ謎のマヤ文明です。わかっていることはほんのわずか。何せ紀元前７００年ぐらいに作られたこの都市。グアテマラは近年まで国内の戦争が起こっていたので、観光分野を広めだしたのはつい最近。Wow-------- ! 80% of the buildings are still underground. One of the temples was supposed to be dug this year. it was sponsored by Japan but because of the big earthquake, it got canceled. Most of the Mayan history is still unknown. Mayan settled in this area around BC700!! maya tourist industry is still quite new in Guatemala.

ジャングル内ではひたすらHowlerモンキーの声が！ぐわぁーーーーーーーという恐竜みたいな声です！We were hearing Howler monkey's constantly! It sounds like a dinosaurs! Can you hear it?!
テンプルⅥ約６５Ｍ。木造の階段がテンプルのわきに設置されているので登ることができます。フィンを抱えての登りはクロービス、、、きつかったやろな、、、。ジャングルの中から数か所テンプルがひょっこり頭を出している姿を見渡す事が出来ます。ここから日の出を見るというのは観光の定番。さすがにフィンもいるし、私たちはお昼にゆっくりと。前日午後３時から翌日の閉鎖時間まで同じチケットが使えるので、サンセット、サンライズを目的の人は遺跡近くのホテルに泊まる人が多い。カンボジアのアンコールワットもそういえばそのパターンだったなー。Temple Ⅵis around 65m. There is a wooden stare to climb up to the lookout. Wow it's amazing!! People come here to see the sunrise. It will be beautiful! You can use the same ticket from 3 PM until closing day of the following day so that you can see sunset and sunrise too. In that case, you want to stay near Tikal!
さ、一通り重要な遺跡を巡り、３時のミニバスでフローレスへ。満席だったので、バスの床に座ることに。またまた妊婦、フィン連れの私にイタリア人のやさしいお母さんが席を譲ってくれた。ありがとう、、、。窓からはポッサムらしき動物がえさを食べている姿や、馬、牛、鶏が見えたので、フィンはずーっとコケッコッコー、ムーーーーー、うーまーーーひひひーーーんと連発。もちろんトラックが通る度にトゥラーーーーーーーックとさらに大きな声になっていた。予想以上にフィンは旅をエンジョイしています！Wow possums?! Finn really enjoyed the animals in the jungle and also from the minibus such as cows, horses and roosters!

夕食を町のレストランに。トルティーヤをちょうど焼いていたお店にひかれてここに決定！The woman was making tortillas! We decided to have dinner here!

わーーお野菜と肉がスペシャルソースで炒められたものがコーントルティーヤにてんこ盛り。Q35（約$4.3) Vegetables and meat stair fry with special sauce on tortillas! Q35
ビーフステーキ炭火焼とゆで野菜、ビーンズ、ライス、ワカモーレがついてQ40(約＄５）かなり行けてました。こんなにお野菜とれるの、グアテマラで珍しーーーーー！さ、今日もぐっすり！Grilled beef with cooked vegetable, rice, beans, guacamoleQ40 was sooooo good! I was so happy to have lots of vegetables too! (It was hard to find vegetables here in Guatemala) It was another nice day trip!
